This study focuses on the relationship between sports fandom and the pervasive influence of social media in the Arab world, a region where sport plays a central role in cultural identity and social cohesion. Football has become a significant aspect of Arab identity, with millions of fans passionately supporting both local and international teams. The rise of digital media has enabled Arab fans to follow their favorite teams and athletes with unprecedented ease – individually and in communities, fostering a sense of connection that transcends borders.
Football hooliganism in the Arab world is often tied to broader social and cultural contexts, making it necessary to adapt responses to the local environment. The study indicates that education is critical in addressing riots and hooliganism. Accordingly, comprehensive educational programs targeting young people, alongside public awareness campaigns, can mitigate the impact of online radicalization and instill values of respect and sportsmanship.
The study highlights that regional cooperation is a critical requirement for encountering sports hooliganism. There is a clear need for coordinated efforts to share best practices, align legal definitions, and promote collaborative approaches to combat manifestations of football-related violence
